Why are my outlets making noise

Why are my outlets making a noise?

This noise you hear is actually arcing inside the outlet due to loose connections. Heat is building up and this problem needs to be taken care of right away. We can rework the outlet wiring using a “pigtail” technique. See diagram below. Also note the best way to wire an outlet that has more than one power cable is to pigtail the wires. By doing so the current will not run through the
receptacle to get to the next receptacle on the circuit.

Special Note: Older homes that have two wire cable cannot be grounded unless the cable has been upgraded to a three wire cable. See FAQ What is a Service Upgrade?
